About Roaming Advice
We built this site because carrier roaming fees are one of the most predictable rip-offs in travel. AT&T charges $12/day. Verizon charges $12/day. Most travelers don't find out until after they land.
Our mission
Roaming Advice exposes carrier roaming costs and calculates the exact dollar savings available through eSIM alternatives. Every country page shows what your carrier charges, what you can pay instead, and the difference — in plain numbers, before you travel.
Carrier roaming agreements are intentionally opaque. Rates change without prominent notice. Plans with confusing names obscure the real per-day cost. We translate all of that into plain math: carrier daily rate multiplied by trip days, minus eSIM plan price, equals your savings.
We track 6 carriers across 200+ countries. We compare their rates against 3 eSIM providers every week. The savings figures on this site reflect real current prices, not estimates or industry averages.
Roaming Advice Research Team
We are a small team of frequent travelers who got tired of paying $84 for a week of data that should cost $9. We built the tools we wanted to exist.
Our team tracks roaming rates directly from official carrier rate cards — AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Vodafone UK, EE, and Three UK. We do not rely on third-party aggregators or cached databases. We access each carrier's rate card through their public-facing website, the same way a customer would.
Team members hold frequent traveler status with US and UK carriers and maintain active accounts with all three eSIM providers we recommend. This gives us direct experience with both the roaming billing model and the eSIM activation process from a traveler's perspective, not a researcher's.
The research team covers 200+ countries with active carrier rate data. Countries without verified carrier rate data from at least one of the six tracked carriers are not included in our savings calculations. We would rather cover fewer destinations accurately than cover more with estimated figures.
How we verify rates
Every rate on this site comes directly from the carrier's own website. We do not estimate. We do not extrapolate. We read the rate card, record the number, and timestamp it.
Data sources
We track six carriers and compare their rates against three eSIM providers across 200+ countries. All six carriers are verified from official sources on a monthly cycle. The three eSIM providers are verified weekly.
Carrier sources: AT&T international plan page, T-Mobile international roaming page, Verizon international plan page, Vodafone UK abroad help page, EE abroad help page, Three UK roaming page. Each source URL is recorded alongside the rate figure so any rate can be traced back to its origin document.
eSIM sources: HelloRoam, Saily, and Airalo checkout pages. We use the live checkout price, not the price shown on plan listing pages, because checkout prices reflect current promotions and regional pricing adjustments that listing pages do not always display.
